Piper's Pictures... I had to resist posting all 44

The first week.

WOW! I never realized just how tricky balancing my time between 2 angel babies would be! Even with my mom here, I have had a pretty tough time adjusting to all the changes. I mostly am just concerned about sweet Peyton and making sure she doesn't feel neglected by momma, and making sure I soak up sweet Piper, who is at the yummiest baby stage- newborn! It is tough. I'm so lucky to have my mom here. She has been an angel. She takes Piper in the night and brings her to me to nurse, she runs my errands, cooks our meals, entertains Peyton and cleaned my whole house. I feel like she is my fairy godmother. I don't know what I would do without her here! I haven't been doing much besides nursing and pumping, but both Piper and I had our 2 day post-discharge appointments, and everything is looking great for both of us. Piper is now in the 35th percentile for weight, at 7lb. 6oz. And I am healing so much faster this time around. I haven't had to take pain killers since my 2nd day home from the hospital, and my contracting uterus cramps have disappeared since being home. I feel pretty good, though I am tired 24 hours a day.

My alert little babe- I love her blonde lashes and blue eyes and her daddy's exact hairline.

My mom bought Peyton and I matching Halloween aprons that say "Every good witch knows... it's all about the shoes!" She knew my little shoe lover would appreciate that.
I wanted to post a couple pictures of Piper's nursery

Lastly... Peyton's preschool masterpieces! I just love all her artwork. I can't believe my baby is big enough to be bringing home art from school!

Peyton's First Field Trip!

Peyton had her very first field trip! Her school went to the apple and pumpkin farm, and since I am just 6 days post-partum, Peyton's best friend Peyton J's mom offered to take my Peyton with her. I'm so grateful Brittney took her, because Peyton had THE BEST time. She had so much to say about it when she got home, and she was one happy little girl.

Apparently her pumpkin was a little bit heavy

Days 3 and 4

My insurance covers 3 days in the hospital after delivery, and I decided I was going to take advantage of it. I wanted to just be able to soak up every last minute of having my newborn baby all to myself without any other [3 year old] distractions. We had a few more visitors- my friends Lacie, Rachael and Kecia, as well as my sister-in-law Ashley and niece Taryn. Piper dropped to 7lb 1 oz (which made her seem like a normal weight to me). She is super alert, sucks her fingers whenever she is not swaddled, and makes the sweetest noises. She is pretty easy-going so far and hardly ever cries. The nurses told me she was a nursery favorite. Peyton visited twice a day, and her very favorite part was the food that I could order through room service. She's pretty easy to please.

Monday...
Getting her hearing checked. She passed!
Peyton loved that Lacie came by when she was visiting.
One of our nurses wrote Peyton's name on the board so she would feel special, too.
Dark picture of the hospital newborn hats that one of the nurses makes for the baby girls. Cute that she makes them a little more girly.

What would we do without Noni?
Peyton was so excited to help daddy change Piper.
In this picture, I can totally tell why people say she looks like Jade
Our family of 4!
Getting ready to go home. Piper weighed 7lb. 4oz. at discharge. This was the same outfit Peyton wore home from the hospital.
Peyton had a cough, so we made her wear this mask when she held Piper. Pretty cute.
We were spoiled! My nieces and nephew made us a banner for our garage when we drove home, and put balloons in our yard, and my sison sent Peyton a HUGE big sister balloon bouquet and a gorgeous bouquet of flowers for me. And we got some beautiful flowers from our hospital visitors.

Day 2

Our second day at the hospital was probably my favorite day because Peyton came to meet her baby sister! Piper had 2 heel pricks and didn't even cry (she seems to have her dad's disposition so far). She is already a champion nurser. Also Grandma and Grandpa came to visit, as well as Uncle Jeremy and Aunt Kristin and Piper's best friend baby Layla (5 days older). Piper has a little bit of "newborn rash", and some swelling and bruising from being pushed out of a too-small birth canal, but other than that, she's absolutely perfect!
Peyton really loved her baby sister. She came in the room and we made sure Piper was put away, in the cradle in the corner, and let Peyton come see me first. She brought Jade and me each a doughnut, and she picked out flowers and a balloon to bring me, too. After she showed me the doughnut, she asked right away where her "baby sista" was. We brought Piper over and Peyton was able to open a little gift that Piper "brought" for her... the spray on glitter that Peyton has been eyeing at Sephora for about 6 months. After she enjoyed her gift for a minute, she wanted to hold Piper right away. She even wanted to kiss Piper goodbye when it was time to leave! We're taking this as a very good sign.

Sleepy daddy and sleeping baby. That was our first morning waking up as parents of 2!

SO excited to give me my doughnut

Very sweet!
Nap time with Noni
I have a feeling these 2 are going to be best friends just like their dads.
