House-guests for the Birthday

Thursday morning we went and Picked up my mom, Cheyanne and Bill up from the airport. Noni was so excited to see her granddaughters that she accidentally forgot one of her suitcases at the airport. Luckily she was able to get it back safe and sound (after another 1 1/2 hours roundtrip). We spent the afternoon getting ready for the party, which was a success (more on that later).
Friday morning we packed up a picnic and drove to the coast- to a little beach town called Seaside.
We went to the Seaside Aquarium where we could feed the seals and learn about some of the sea creatures native to the Pacific Northwest. The aquarium is interactive, and you can hold and touch many of the animals there. Peyton was a little apprehensive at first, but eventually warmed up and was able to hold/touch sea urchins, sea anemone, starfish, crabs, mussels, clams, and some other things that I can't remember for the life of me. Then we had a picnic on the beach. It was a rare sunny beach day, and we had a great lunch. Then we walked along the boardwalk. We went on the bumper cars- I drove Peyton on one and at first she was a little nervous, but she ended up having a fantastic time. I haven't ridden bumper cars since I was a small child, so I didn't remember just how hard they are to steer! It took me a minute to adjust and stop spinning in a circle. Eventually I figured it out, and I enjoyed it just as much as Peyton. Then we went on the Tilt-A-Whirl, and had a fantastic time. Then we went to the old-fashioned arcade. They have carnival-type games, which I love. We played several rounds of the group game where whoever gets the ball into a row of cups first wins. Neither my mom, Bill, Cheyanne or I won once! Peyton and Piper were so cute and well-behaved that the arcade ringmaster (or whatever he's called) gave them each a pink stuffed monkey! Then Cheyanne took Peyton on the carousel. They had a classic car show in town that day, so we looked around at the old cars, which was pretty neat. Then we left Seaside and met up with Jade at the golf course for a nice dinner, and of course a hunt [figuratively] for baby deer.
Today was Peyton's actual birthday, but since she already had her party, it was pretty low-key. I woke her up with the traditional cake in bed (this time it was doughnuts with candles). Then Cheyanne stayed home with Piper and Bill, my mom, Peyton and I went to the Lake Oswego Farmer's Market, which is my favorite of all the markets. Then we came home for naps and my mom had to take Bill to the airport, since he was going back to Arizona for Father's Day. Saturday night we let Peyton choose the restaurant for dinner. At first she chose McDonald's, but thankfully she switched her choice to Panera. Then we went to a frozen yogurt shop for birthday dessert.

At our grocery store, they have little carts for the kids. Peyton was hilarious with her cart. She kept adjusting where her purse would go- in the top basket, in the main basket, or on her arm. She really is 4, going-on 18. Scary.

My sister took this picture on the drive home from the airport.
Peyton was so excited to help fill her treat bags for the party. There's that funny "thumb's up" again. Guess what she wanted to give... bubble gum. That was it. Eventually I persuaded her to add some other treats.
 Feeding the seals
 Octopus
 Crabs
Piper only slept about 20 minutes total that day. Yikes.

Silly, but cute. We went to a hat store and couldn't resist trying one on Piper.

 Happy Birthday, Dear Peyton

Peyton- Milestones and Funnies

3 - 3 1/2
"Lame." When she does something on accident (drops something, can't get something just right). That one comes from me.

"It smells horrible in here." We passed some weird sewage smell in the car with the windows down.
Started telling me every morning, "You smell nasty. Will you please brush your teeth." I can't even be mad at her because she says it so innocently!
We went to the farmer's market, and they have a doggy day care. She went up to each of the 30 or so dogs and gave them each a hug and kiss. It was so sweet. She didn't want to leave until each dog had gotten a "love".
Cheyanne asked Peyton if she was excited to be a big sister. Peyton said, "no." Cheyanne asked why she wasn't excited, and Peyton said, "because I don't like my baby sister." Cheyanne asked her why she didn't like her baby sister, and Peyton said, "because she's annoying." Oh boy- I am in for a crazy ride when this baby comes.
She has an imaginary friend named Sage. She asked me if I want to have a birthday party for Sage with her, wants to put lipgloss on Sage, buckles Sage into her car seat, helps Sage go potty after she goes, and lets Sage take naps in her crib. She usually tells me Sage is a baby, but sometimes she says she's a big girl, and once she said Sage is a boy. She has told me a few times that her favorite baby doll is Sage, and once she told me that Sage was her baby sister, but the grand majority of the time, Sage is imaginary. She once disappeared for several minutes, and told me she broke the potty because she was changing Sage's diaper. I came to realize that meant she clogged the toilet with a half package of diaper wipes (but thankfully no pee or poop). She also talks to Sage and tells her stories. She pretends to tuck Sage into bed with her binky and blankie, and will shut the door and say "good night Sage, sweet dreams angel, I love you," which is what I say to Peyton after I put her down for a nap or bed. It's really sweet.
She has mentioned another friend named Ray a few times, but he didn't stick around very long.
Her newest favorite thing is to be tickled really softly. She will pull up her dress or her sleeves or the bottom of her shirt, exposing the area she wants to be tickled, and will say, "please tickle me lightly." It's so sweet. I love holding her and tickling her, lightly.
When we were walking in a parking lot, she was telling me some long-winded story, and said, "I was like, I'm so bummed out right now!"
Peyton was talking to me about going potty, and she mentioned about how Max and Ike and daddy "touch their tail" when they go potty. I almost died. I asked her what she meant, and she said that when they go pee-pee, they touch their tail by their bottom. To deflect her, I reminded her that we don't touch our bottoms, because that's where the poo-poo comes out. I could not believe it!
Peyton is a girl who knows her limits (about some things). Sleeping is definitely one of those things. She is a great sleeper, like her daddy. She will tell me, "I'm ready for bed now" or "I want to go to sleep now." Once, she was swimming with all her cousins, and she went to Jade, got him to pick her up, and told him, "I'm tired. I want to go to sleep."
Peyton's high chair has really smooth wheels on it. A few months ago, she picked up the habit of rocking her body back and forth to get momentum, then when she would reach the edge of the counter, she would pull herself along until she ended up where she wanted to be. She totally reminds me of a paraplegic when she does that.
Every time we leave the house, I tell Tink bye. Peyton has started doing the same thing, and now every time she walks out the door, she says, "buh-bye Tinky Winkerson. I Love you!"
Peyton realized that my car beeps when one of the front 2 seatbelts is unbuckled. If she hears it before one of us buckle, even for a second, she'll yell, "Who's unbuckled?"
Peyton is still under 30 pounds, so she still is in a rear-facing car seat. I think because of the visual restrictions this places on her, her other senses have gotten stronger. She can hear me opening a wrapper, no matter how quietly I do it- even if it's just a gum wrapper. She also has developed a keen sense of smell. She'll say "you smell like chocolate" or "it smells stinky in here" (like when we drive by a skunk or road construction). She can smell gum or mints or chocolate on your breath, even if you're not by her face. It's pretty amazing, actually.
We were talking about going on our family camp trip, and I was telling her everyone was going except Uncle Nipper, the triplets and Mutti. Peyton asked if Grandma was going to go, and I told her yes. She thought about it for a minute, then asked, "Well who will babysit Mutti?"
She called cotton candy "poppin' candy."
She called our campground, Honeyman, "Honey mint".
She was asking about our country and I was trying to get her to remember its name. I said, "United States of..." and she said, "Jesus!"
We each got a yogurt parfait, and she ate hers first. I still had mine, and she really wanted to eat it. I asked her if she ate mine, what would I have to eat? She said, "You can eat pickles."
I overheard her telling Sage, "You can't drink from me, because I don't have milk, Sage." (We've been talking a lot about nursing lately.)
She prayed in a prayer "thank you for Sage, and for my family."
She lost her treat privileges while we were camping because she ate a stick of my lipgloss[!] so I told her I didn't want her to throw up, and she couldn't have treats because it would upset her tummy (we're trying "natural consequences"). One of the treats she couldn't have was hot chocolate. Sam was drinking hot chocolate and she said to him, "Oh. Did you not eat lip gloss?"
She was talking on the phone to my mom and said, "Hold on- I'm leaving a message for someone in my office."
On our way home from the park, I asked her if she had a fun time. She said yes, but "I was sad because I couldn't find Sage there. Can we go back and pick her up?"
Peyton and I are in a play group, and one of the ladies in the group recently had a baby, so she hasn't been to any play dates in quite awhile, so Peyton didn't remember her. Peyton walked right up to her and asked, "Why are you black?" She just bent down and said, "That's just the way I am. You're white, and I'm black, and he's brown (referring to her baby)." I smiled at her and told her that was a great answer, and Peyton was totally satisfied and moved on to asking to hold her baby, but I was a little bit embarrassed. A couple weeks later, we were at the grocery store and the man in front of us was black. Peyton asked (so loudly) "Mom, is he black?" I told her yes, he is black. Then she asked, "Why is he black?" I told her that people come in all sorts of colors; she is white, he is black and her daddy is tan. He looked at us and smiled and told the cashier that "that is a great age- so inquisitive!" I was mortified.
Peyton is quite interested in nursing lately. She picked up the word "boobie" somewhere, and since I tell her to call it "chest", she has taken to calling it "boobie chest". She also told me one day that she was going to feed her baby. I asked her what she was going to feed her. She said, "milk from my chest". She then proceeded to pretend-nurse her little baby doll. It was pretty funny.
Jade took to bribing Peyton with treats. I warned him he was overusing the bribe, but he persisted. Peyton picked up on the threats, and would eventually just say, "Well, no treats for Peyton then!" Jade got outplayed at his own little game!
Peyton was driving in the car with my mom and Cheyanne and she said "Why is it stinky?" Cheyanne told her that it could be from another truck or car or the paving on the road... and Peyton said, "Or bears."
Cheyanne was sleeping on the bed and Peyton was trying to wake her up. Peyton was eating her favorite "Noni snack", Pringles, and she put one up to Chey's face and said, "Can you please wake up? I'll give you a Pringle! Here, eat it!" So funny that the Pringle was a big bargaining chip for her.
Our friends came over to see Piper and they brought their two Yorkies. Peyton loved one of them and kept asking if he could stay with us. My friend told her that she would give Peyton the dog if she could have Piper. Peyton agreed. When they were leaving, Peyton said, "Now you take my baby sister and I can have her [the dog]."
Peyton asked my mom, "When is my mom going to the hospital to take her back [Piper]?" (Not a good sign)
We drove past Old Navy and she asked, "Why is it 'old'?"
In Peytons prayer tonight she asked Ashton to be thankful for Dorothy!
At Disneyland, Peyton met Alice (of the Wonderland fame) and the Mad Hatter. At first, Peyton was leery of the Mad Hatter. I didn't understand her hesitation, because he was really nice (and not one of the scary characters). She told me it was because she didn't know why he was "mad".
.
3 1/2 - 4

At Sea World, one of the sea lions had a sneezing attack, and Peyton told him "bless you" every time.
At Sea World, we were taking pictures, and Peyton asked me, "Mommy will you take a picture of me and Sage hugging?" Then she asked me to take a picture with Sage.
Peyton told me, "I don't like your black hair." I asked her why, and she said, "Because it's not pink."
Peyton asked me if there would be fireworks at her wedding and I told her that if she wanted them, she could have them. Then I asked her who she was going to marry and she said, "Daddy."
Peyton called Jade and I "my parents" a few times. It makes her sound so old! She also told my mom that she was going to go see her "Modder".
"You have to be kidding me."
Peyton asked what my middle name was, and I told her "Camille". Then she asked, "What's Justin Bieber's middle name?"
November 26- 3.5 years old- Peyton gave herself her first haircut. I didn't know about it until about a week later when my mom noticed that her bangs (really long side bangs) were shorter on one side.
Peyton was playing with my breast pump and I asked her how it was going. She said, "Good. Much better than nursing." I asked her if she was finished and she said yes, "There's chocolate milk in there [the pump bottles]."
"Say cheese." Pause. "Sage- if you want to go to Pump It Up, Jr. with me and my mom and Miss Jaime and Brooklyn, then you got to say cheese."
I put on a pair of black ankle boots with fur on them. Peyton said to me, "I don't like those shoes. You should take them back to Target." I asked her why she didn't like them, and she told me, "They're not very fancy." I still don't know how she knew I got them at Target.
Peyton said a prayer that was probably a good 3 minutes long. Highlights include: thankful for the dentist and that she brushes her teeth every day, please bless her to make good choices, finally, please bless Captain Hook won't fight a lot with Peter Pan, thankful for all the things we have- and stuff.
Peyton was in Primary and told the singing teacher that she thought the kids were singing "WAY too loud".
"I want to get an IPhone for my birthday."
Peyton was saying the prayer one night and she prayed, "Thank you for the different countries we live in [she's heard me say I was thankful for the country we live in], thank you that daddy got a new phone, and bless that Noni will be here for Christmas."
Peyton's favorite Christmas gift, out of all the new presents and things she got... the M&M's and gum.
I told Peyton she needed to go sit in her room for a time-out. A few seconds later, she came back to my room and said she couldn't go to time-out, "It's locked. Bummer."
Peyton made some bad choices, so I put her in time-out. When I went in, I asked her why she had to take a time-out, she told me, "I got into your makeup, and got on the counter, and... what else?"
Piper and I were reading a book to Peyton at bedtime. Piper pooped. Peyton said [very sweetly], "It smells like poop. Will you leave, please?"
I overheard her pretend talking on the phone and she said, "Oh. She's saying like, Peyton looks so cute today"
In the car, she randomly said to me, "You're a nice mommy."
We saw an old woman with grey hair at target, and Peyton [loudly] said, "That looks like the old lady from Rapunzel!"
We were walking outside of Target, and Peyton noticed a bad smell in the air. She said, "It smells like donkey poop." Very specific!
I asked Peyton what she did at school one day, and she told me, "Nothing. We just hanged out."
Our friend babysat Peyton for us one night, and she took her to watch her 17 year old son play competitive water polo. Peyton asked her, "Why does Grant wear panties?"
This is getting bigger. What is? My belly. Do I have a baby in there?
Noni sent Peyton a Valentine's card in the mail. Peyton was so happy. On the phone with Noni, she said, "I was so happy. I don't usually get often mail." She talks like an adult!
Peyton's friend Peyton J moved to Bend. Peyton decided one day that her imaginary friend, Sage moved to Bend also. That night in the dinner prayer, she prayed, "Bless Sage because she moved to Bend."
We were at Target and she saw a 9 or 10 year old boy with a mohawk. Peyton looked at me and said, "Mom that boy is handsome!"
She's a little OCD- she likes to plat "calendar", have "lessons" in her room with her folders, and always talks about "my schedule".
"I love you, mom, but I want daddy, too." Jade had been out of town 3 days.
Peyton got in [little] trouble for something, and said to me, "Are you gonna punch me up?" Who knows where in the world she got that one?!
Peyton prayed, "Bless baby Brewer. And bless baby Jennifer (Peyton's baby doll)."
Peyton has started saying "credit" when she gets mad or frustrated. I think it's a combination of "crud" and "dang it".
Peyton prayed, "Bless Peyton to get over her little sickness, because I have a little fever or something like that." (She had the sniffles.)
We were getting something to eat and she saw an older man who had a long, scraggly beard that was braided into 2 braids. She was staring at him for awhile, and eventually said, "He's got a silly face!" I just said, "Oh, you're right; he has a long beard!" Hopefully that was a good diffusion.
March 12- She swam the entire length of the pool (standard lap-size or olympic-size pool) by herself!!
"I'm freaking cold." Thanks a lot for that word, Pettyjohns.
"We're going to play tricks on people." "Like the leprechauns?" "Kind of. Let's draw a mustache on Cheyanne." "Okay, but I don't want a mustache. Can I have a sticker instead?" "Sure babe." "Okay, but does Noni have a cool sticker?"
"I won't cause any more problems for you." (To Chey when she was babysitting, and Peyton had given her a hard time going to bed.)
"My freaking toe hurts."
April 30, 2012- First broken bone- her right pointer finger got crushed in the accordion closet door. OUCH!
April 30, 2012- Got rid of the binky- for good!
I was eating a packet of Sixlets, and Peyton asked where I got them. I told her they were in my Easter basket. She said, "Oh. Okay. I thought you stoled them from me."
Peyton has been practicing tying and she made a knot with a half a bow and was really proud of herself. That night, she prayed, "Bless Peyton that she can tie. Because I already did." Cute!
Peyton was carrying a full purse and her favorite doll, and came over to me and said, "Bye, mom. I'm going to college." (I almost cried. That day will come too soon!)
Peyton will tell me, "Bye hon, love ya, I'm going to _____." (usually the gym or the store, specifically Target)
"I have NO idea." (Her usual response when she's in trouble.)
"Daddy has a wagging tail like Tinky." (What do you even say to that?!)
Jade was getting frustrated when Peyton was taking a long time to get out of the car. He was talking to her in a serious tone, and she said, "If you're going to talk like that, I'm not going to want to be around you. You're hurting my ears." (That's something we say to her when she is whining.)
We were at a party at Justin and Ashley's house and Peyton came running into the kitchen and said, "Aunt Ashley... The kids... they're eating ALL the candy!!!"
She stole a chapstick from Taryn and was hiding it in her shirt. I asked her what she had, and she said, "It's something that's ours." Little liar!
Peyton says really great prayers. They blow me away. She has such a sweet heart. In her most recent prayer, she said, "Bless Heavenly Father and Jesus." Very precious.

Peyton's 4 Year Letter

My Precious [Precocious] Peyton,
Happy birthday! You are now 4 years old, going on 14! You have grown up so much in the last year. This year I’ve realized that you are so much like me. I guess that’s because we spend so much time together. Sometimes you’ll do something or say something, and I just think, “WOW, she’s so my daughter.”
This year you became a big sister, and for the most part, you’ve filled the role perfectly. You are your sister’s very favorite person. You’ve learned so much from experiences and school, but what I’m most excited about is how much you’ve learned about Heavenly Father and Jesus. I’ve seen your little testimony develop so much over these past 12 months. It makes me so happy to hear you say your sweet prayers and make comments in Primary or at home when we’re having Family Home Evening or reading the Scriptures.
You spend a lot of time with me, but you also started PRESCHOOL this year! And you have been taking gymnastics, tap and ballet as well. My favorite thing to do with you is to sing and dance together. I love when you help me cook dinner, and I really love when you come into bed with me in the morning and snuggle while I nurse Piper.
Your favorite things to eat for breakfast are Swedish pancakes and omelets that you make with your daddy on Sunday mornings. For lunch, you love grilled cheese sandwiches with a little Parmesan cheese added to the cheddar, and NO CRUST! For dinner, you like deconstructed salad, without lettuce or dressing. Basically you just like your veggies cut up and served side-by-side but not mixed. You don’t like any sauces or creams on things. You really like chicken and beef, and you love all fruit. You like snack foods- you’re always asking for a granola bar and a box of chocolate milk. Your absolute favorite thing is dessert or treats of any kind- especially doughnuts with sprinkles.
You really love to play dolls. You have two favorite dolls; one is Jennifer and one is Karla. You are so sweet with them. You pack them diaper bags and feed them and swaddle them and bounce them to sleep. I absolutely love watching you “mother” them because it reminds me how sweet and nurturing you are. You also love to play with your makeup and purses. Anywhere we go, you bring a purse full of makeup.
Every single day you make me laugh. You are so funny, and you hardly ever stop talking and asking questions. I think that’s why you are so smart. People can’t believe you’re only 3. You even speak like a grown-up. You love to laugh and every day when you are going somewhere (like up or down the stairs), you’ll yell, “Don’t hiney-bugs me!”, “You will?” Then I’ll run after you and try to pinch your little bottom and say, “hiney bugs, hiney bugs!”
The thing you get in trouble for most is for being sassy. You have to go to your room and come out talking to me in a more respectful way. Sometimes it takes a few tries, but you always make the right choice in the end. You are very quick to ask forgiveness when you do something wrong, and I admire that about you.
You still don’t really like to watch TV or movies, but when we’re running errands you will watch things on my phone. You like the show “Wonder Pets” and you love to watch the church videos. Recently you saw the Rapunzel movie, “Tangled” with a babysitter, and you really like that one, but you’re scared of the “old lady” who is the villain in the movie, so you don’t like to watch the parts with her in them. You even have had a couple bad dreams with the old lady, Mother Gothel, but I just keep reminding you that she’s not really scary; she’s just stinky! That seems to help a lot. You don’t like any of the Villains from the Disney movies, so you usually don’t want to watch them even though you absolutely love the Princesses.
One thing I am excited to do with you is go to Disneyland again. We had such a great time when we went this year. You loved it! It was magical to you, which made it magical for daddy and I. I just love spending time with you.
You still love to sleep, and mommy is grateful for that. You go to bed around 7-7:30 and sleep until about 7. Sometimes you wake up before that, but you have a special clock in your room that turns color when you’re allowed to get up, so if you wake up early you can just read quietly in your room. You even still take naps, though you never want to. But if I let you stay up without napping, you are super cranky, so I know you still need a little nap every day. At night we usually take a bath (you always ask to do bath paints), then braid your hair, brush your teeth, read a book, read one page in the Book of Mormon, then say a prayer and tuck you in. You finally got rid of your binky this year, but you still have your little face blankies that you like to sleep with, as well as your lullaby CD. If you ever get really upset, rocking with mommy and holding your blankies really helps you calm down.
Your room is pink and green, with white furniture and a rocking chair that we borrowed from Aunt JaNea since you missed having your old rocking chair when I had Piper and moved it into the nursery. You keep your room incredibly tidy.
You don’t really love to color or draw, but you do love to do crafts with mommy, or as we call them, “projects”. You collect little things like the punched holes from a hole-punch. You love to read, and I love reading books with you because you ask great questions. Your recent favorite books are “The Many Adventures of Winnie the Pooh”, “The Baby’s Storybook” (with classic fables like Red Riding Hood, Goldilocks and The Little Red Hen) and “Illustrated Stories from the Book of Mormon”.
One of your best characteristics is how diligent you are. You want to do everything in just the right way, and you can be very patient when trying to learn something new. You taught yourself to blow a bubble with bubble gum and also to snap. Those are really big accomplishments for a 3-year old! You are also very conscientious, and very kind. You want to make sure that everyone is happy, and you are very thoughtful of others.
You are an absolute joy to be around. You are so charming and funny and sweet. You have a captivating personality, and it is impossible for someone to be around you and not fall in love with you. You are so smart, and most importantly, you have started to develop an amazing testimony of our Savior. I love hearing your prayers- they are so grown up, and I love hearing you talk about Jesus. I am so incredibly proud of you, and I am beyond grateful to be your mommy. I love you. (“All of it!”)

School's Out for Summer!

That was fast! Summer is here already. Peyton had her last day of tap, ballet and gymnastics, and they let the parents come and watch. She moved up a level in gym, which I'm excited about (she, on the other hand, has no clue what that means). At preschool, they celebrated Peyton's birthday by letting her bring a birthday treat as the class snack. She chose...doughnuts. That girl loves herself some doughnuts! We had a few special last-week of school-playdates with Peyton's friends Abbey and Arellia, as well as a special visit from the Janecks- all the way from Bend. Peyton and Peyton even had their first sleepover! They stayed up a little while talking when they should have been asleep, and they woke up way too early, but other than that, they did really well. I assigned Jade to get a picture for the good old blog, but my honey forgot. Sad. The Sunday before Peyton's birthday, we had family dinner with just Grandma, Grandpa and Mutti. Peyton got her own special dessert, and fancy table settings. She thought she was so special! Also, Peyton had her last day of Preschool! The teachers invited the parents to come to the classroom a half hour before school was over, and the kids were all wearing little graduation caps, and the teachers gave them little diplomas and portfolios of some of their work. It was too cute! My baby is growing up way too fast. I almost cried. Also, we went to the Pediatric Orthopedic Hand Surgeon- everything is ok with Peyton's crushed finger. They were a little worried about her nail bed and growth plate, but thankfully all is well. She ended up losing her nail, but besides that, she's as good as new! Hopefully she will be more careful closing doors now.

She has started giving me weird "thumbs-up"'s all the time.

Special pre-birthday dessert made with love by Grandma.
Okay, I'm sorry, but they are SO fun to match!

big girl
I read about a cute tradition (on Pinterest, of course) where a mom has a "welcome to summer" party every year for her kids on their last day of school. She has a banner for them to run through that says "Welcome to summer", and they each get a "basket of summer fun" filled with things to do during the summer. That night they have a family pizza party and sleepover. I thought it sounded so fun, so I threw it together for Peyton's last day. I also let her choose where to go for her special birthday lunch. Wait for it... McDonald's...

Cute little buddies- look at those graduation caps!

Photo Shoot

When we were in Las Vegas, Aunt Buttons and her girlfriends were doing a little photo shoot around my mom's neighborhood. Peyton really wanted to go with the big girls, and they were nice enough to let her. I got some cute shots of my pretty girl!

Field Trip, Matching Outfits and Roseola

Peyton had her 2nd field trip of the school year. We went to a little farm called Plumper Pumpkin Patch- somewhere we've actually been before with friends and family around Halloween. Peyton had such a great time. First we took a hayride in a tractor to see the whole farm. Then they took us to have a lesson on bees (thankfully the hive they had on display was empty). Then they took us around to see all the animals. That was Peyton's and my favorite part. There were 2 week old calves. They were so cute. I even let one of them nurse on my fingers. I love when they do that. After the animals, the kids had a little lesson on farming pumpkins. Then they each got 5 pumpkin seeds that they were able to plant; and they even marked them with their school name. I told Peyton that when it's Halloween time, we could come back and get one of the pumpkins that she planted. She is pretty fired up about that. The best part of the field trip was that Taryn and Ashley were there, since Taryn goes to Peyton's school since turning 3 in March. Peyton loved having her cousin with her. Over Memorial Day weekend we just pretty much relaxed. Piper was sick, so she and I didn't even leave the house. This past Friday Jade took Peyton over to Uncle Justin's house to have a campout with him and his kids and Uncle Jeremy and his kids. They got rained out. It was June 1st. Typical Oregon. She had a great time though. When she came home the next morning, she said to me, "Mommy, I wish I could stay there for three days." So funny that she specified 3 days. On Saturday, Piper woke up with a rash on her face that got progressively worse throughout the day. This morning (Sunday) I decided to take her in to the clinic at our pediatrician's office. Sure enough, she has roseola. Peyton never had it, but it's a pretty common rash caused by a virus. She also has an ear infection on top of the viral infection. My poor baby! I can tell she's not comfortable, and it breaks my heart. She has been needing lots of love and cuddles, which I am happy to give.

 I LOVE matching outfits!
I also love sleeping babies with wide open mouths. It's so precious to me- I just kiss it over and over. Piper fell asleep in the middle of nursing. I love the milk running down her face.

Sad baby just wants to cuddle
